“It was a courtesy call and not a political meeting. I came to inform him about my political tour. He wished me good luck,” Haasan told. Haasan said: “Only time will tell” when asked if Rajinikanth and he are entering into an alliance.
Super star Rajinikanth also addressed the media after the meeting and stated that Haasan had invited him for the launch of his party. He said that he wished him best and admitted that both of them has a common goal of working for people of Tamil Nadu when it comes to politics, “it is different”.
After criticizing the alleged corruption and misgovernance by the E Paliniswami government in Tamil Nadu, 63-year-old Kamal Haasan launched his political website last year called naalainamadhe.maiam.com that aims to turn people into whistleblowers. He is currently on a what he terms “journey of discovery” across India.
These super stars-turned-politicians are thought capable of filling a place in Tamil Nadu politics after the death of former chief minister J Jayalalithaa in 2016 and the ill-health of DMK chief M Karunanidhi for over a year following which he has been inactive in politics. Rajinikanth has always answered questions about a possible alliance with Kamal Haasan with the response: “Only time will tell.”
