The Primary and Secondary Education Department is now ready to use school compounds for commercial purpose, which was already short of funds for basic infrastructure development works for state-run schools. At a meeting on Wednesday, Minister Tanveer Sait said companies could now make use of school compounds to advertise their products.
Sait said “As we are looking for people who can paint our schools, and if there are companies looking for space to advertise their products, they can make use of school compound walls by paying an amount fixed by the department”.
Meanwhile, Shalini Rajneesh, principal secretary of the department, clarified that in case there are no compound walls, then the company looking to advertise will have to build one first. “We have seen that many companies choose public walls to advertise their products.
