The ministry of civil aviation provides the subsidy to the pilgrims for air travel through the Haj Committee Of India.
The pilgrims deposit a fixed amount every year to HCOI and balance will be paid by MoCA as the subsidy to facilitate the Haj pilgrims. The total amount charged will be variable to each, depending on the type of accommodation and the embarkation point.
On Tuesday government made a decision in line with the Supreme Court Of India’s directions. In 2012 Supreme Court had asked the government to progressively reduce the Haj subsidy so that it can be totally eliminated within a period of 10 years.
Haj subsidy was reduced from Rs 836 crores(approx) Rs 405 crores(approx) in the year 2016-2017.
